Something funny Katie did today...I was busy getting everything ready to head to my 6 week postpartum check-up this morning. Katie was "cooking" and wanted me to hold something that she had cooked. I told Katie to hold on a minute...when that didn't work (she has little patience LOL), I quickly (without thinking) told her that I didn't have any hands to hold it. Okay, so obviously you all know I meant that I didn't have any FREE hands because I was busy at the moment. Well, Katie didn't know that's what I meant. As soon as I said it, her whole facial expression changed to this strange stare. Then, without missing a beat, she looked at me and said "Yes you do, Mommy...they're right there" and pointed to my hands. Hahaha Talk about a smarty! I laughed and laughed at her reaction when she took what I said a little TOO literal. Oh, the fun times we have with our little ones!
Now that you've had your laugh, coutesy of Katie...it's time for an Austin update. While we were at my doctor's appointment today, we decided to weigh him to see how much he's grown. Can you guess?? I did, but I was wrong! I said 10lbs...he was 11lbs! My big boy is growing so quickly & changing so much every day. He's starting to smile a little more now...hopefully that means I will be able to catch it on camera soon! He's also attempting to roll over, so that will be a new milestone before we know it. He's probably trying to beat Katie's 2 month roll-over record! ;) Gotta love that sibling rivalry.
In other family news...as usual, we've stayed busy, busy, busy! Mark is still having to work a good amount of overtime. Luckily, he's had weekends off since Austin was born...we've enjoyed having that time with him. Unfortunately, after this weekend, he has to start working 6 long days a week again. Pray that he keeps his sanity while working those long hours...and pray that I keep mine, as well. After 10-12 hours, 6 days a week, with the two little ones my sanity wears thin, also!
I'm very close to deciding to find Meeko a new home, as much as I hate to do it (for Katie's sake). He's very bad about barking ALL the time now, which constantly wakes up my little ones from naps. Due to his barking, I have to keep him in his kennel pretty much all day. My thoughts are...though I know Katie (especially) will miss him, he will enjoy having a new home where he is out playing all the time, instead of lying in his kennel all day. I'm trying to give him another chance...while I'm not frustrated at him. I would hate to make a decision in haste while I was angry with him...though, I would have already found him a new home if it were just me who it affected. We'll see...I really don't know what to do with him right now.
We're beginning to plan the details of Katie's 2nd birthday party. Can you believe it is less than a month away?? Her theme is going to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (one of her favorite TV shows). We've decided to make this one our last "easy planning one" for the family and a few close friends, like we did her first birthday. We will start the birthday parties for her little friends next year!
Well, I think that's a pretty good update for everything going on with our family. I will try to take some new snapshots over the next few days and get them posted for you. We miss you all and hope to see you soon!
Until next time...
